As you probably realize by now I am not a promoter of one diet lifestyle over another with the exception that our human diets should rely more on plant-based foods and less on processed and refined foods that include sugar, salt, and bad fats.
My philosophy on eating is a simple one. I don’t believe in being rigid in my dietary regime. I believe that we should concentrate on plants and not meats for our dietary needs. Refined foods should be looked at with skepticism and avoided where possible.
In my last article I briefly talked about paleo- vegan lifestyle and how each expert will have their own take on what a Paleo vegan lifestyle would be I’ve decided to share with you some book reviews on Healthy Lifestyles by six notable writers.
By reviewing these Publications for yourself you’ll be able to make and informed decision on the type of diet you wish to follow and how your health will be impacted by each of these Lifestyle Changes.
Is one diet lifestyle better than the other? it’s hard to say each one of these writers, many of the medical professionals give us persuasive arguments as to why their system is best. each of these writers also provides us with data proving that demonstrates their system outperforms other diet lifestyles.
For instance Dean Ornish talks about a vegetarian lifestyle what is devoid of meat and missing many of the foods that would be included in a vegan lifestyle. He backs up his diet lifestyle with findings that show that some of his patients arteries have opened and their overall health is improved.
John McDougall on the other hand believes that high protein is the key to satiety and as such will assist you and weight reduction. he also has research it shows how his patients have actually come back from being a patient crippled bye cardiac disease to a healthy productive person
Joel Fuhrman and Alan Goldhamer both promote therapeutic fasting as part of a vegan lifestyle And Alan gold hammers case that includes no fat sugar or salt. While Joel Fuhrman’s advice includes healthy fats in a plant based diet. Each of these medical professionals hundreds or thousands of documented cases to backup their diet techniques and lifestyle.
I regard Dean Ornish as a credible author in the diet and health promotion field. Doctor Ornish’s books Not only provide you with his research but gives you real life examples and testimonials from his patients some of which were medically in dire straits.
Dr. Ornish is a solid writer who takes you through why he believes his lifestyle changes will benefit you and he backs them up with medical studies to prove his point. One of Dean Ornish’s favorite graphics is how he demonstrates with an actual scan of cardiac arteries how arterial blockages have been reversed after being on his diet plan for only one year.
Further in his books he gives anecdotal stories from some of his most notable patients and how they have improved their health and reverse heart disease. The stories are truly amazing. His patients who closely follow his advice are rewarded what’s greatly improved health.
Dr. Ornish provides his readers with one inspirational story after another which helps improve his point but changing your lifestyle and eating a more healthy diet can make a huge difference in your daily vigor and your longevity. Ornish removes any doubt you may have about leading a plant based lifestyle and his writing style is truly motivational.
In many of his books You will go on to find plethora a recipes for every lifestyle and almost every occasion. You will not get bored with just a handful of recipes that some authors provide.
His information is truly amazing and one of the best researched books on the market in the field of diet and exercise.

Joel Fuhrman’s book Eat to Live was an incredible book for me. It taught me so much about healthy eating and dieting. One of the key principles in his book is the use of intermittent fasting. This principle has been used by many medical professionals and diet gurus alike. Basically you give your digestive system a break for a day or two (or sometimes longer) on a regular basis. This way of eating promotes weight loss and gives you body a reset.
If you follow Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s eating and dieting plan chances are you will feel better and have better mental acuity
Joel Fuhrman’s diet is in low sodium, vegan, gluten-free and low in fat. His diet focuses on eating nutrient-dense foods that are high in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. It avoids or minimizes processed foods, and focuses on eating nutrient-dense foods.
Dr. Fuhrman suggests that following the diet not only prevents, but reverses, chronic diseases, and “maximally slows aging and promotes lifespan.”
While this diet and way of life I feel is a good one many people will find his diet extreme.
